Green County Area Technology Center
Skills USA

Skills USA started in 1965 as the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA). It was created by both students and teachers as a way to both further learning in the vocational studies and increase awareness. The name was changed to Skills USA in 2004. Today the organization has over 300,000 members that it serves. The organization has been at the Green County Area Technology Center since its opening.
The Skills USA club is involved in the community in:
  • Participation in the Unite to Read program which allows students to be involved with the children of the local primary and intermediate schools
  • Thanksgiving and Christmastime food drives for the less fortunate
  • Maintenance projects to local businesses and schools
The club also participates in competitions of skill in the vocational arts against others including a state conference in April.
Skills USA's slogan is "Champions at Work" profiling the whole purpose of the organization. Some goals include to develop quality leadership skills, create strong work ethics, increase membership, and better serve the community.
